Welcome to Taiga Adventure Camp

Taiga Adventure Camp is open for 2009 summer registrations

Camp is located in Fort Smith

Session 1, July 2 - July 9
Session 2, July 14 - 21


Open to any girl in the NWT between the ages of 11-17.
Cost is $350 per camper.

Taiga Adventure Camp (TAC) offers a fun, personalized, and supportive growth experience. It is the only summer camp in the Northwest Territories specifically for girls ages 12-17.

Introducing our 2009 Summer Staff

Sheila Sauteur Chadwick – Manager
Sheila comes to Taiga Camp with a wealth of community leadership, social service, and human rights experience. With a bachelors and masters degree in Social Work, Sheila has worked as a child protection worker, counsellor, therapist and foster parent. She is currently finishing a term with Aurora College as an instructor and Taiga Camp is very excited to have her energy and experience as our summer manager. Currently she is very active with the NWT Labour Union as well as with the United Nations Status of Women. Sheila has watch Taiga camp evolve since its start in Fort Smith last summer and is enthusiastic to contribute to the development of young women across the north.

Neo Yaxley – Director
Neo Yaxley is from Yellowknife N.T. She studied International Development and has participated in exchanges to Mexico, Namibia and Cuba. Neo has worked for the Center for Northern Families, Frontier College and the legislative assembly. Currently Neo is completing her BFA in Art Education at Concordia University, and is thrilled to be working for Taiga Adventure Camps in Fort Smith, the garden capital of the Northwest Territories! Neo is passionate about work which enriches the lives of individuals, communities and the environment, and believes that the “backbone” to a healthy life begins through a nurturing environment, which she aims to provide at Taiga Adventure Camp.

Taiga Adventure Camp is pleased to announce that it has joined the YWCA, Canada's oldest women's organization. Together we are working to strengthen the lives of young women in the NWT.
